Configuring IP Services

Parameter: Enable
Path: Configuration Manager > Protocols > IP > EGP > Neighbors
Default: Enable
Options: Enable
| Disable
Function: Enables or disables an EGP neighbor relationship with the specified IP address.
Instructions: Set this parameter to Disable if you want to temporarily disable this neighbor
relationship rather than delete it. Or set it to Enable if you previously disabled
this neighbor relationship, and now want to re-enable it.

Parameter: Acquisition Mode
Path: Configuration Manager > Protocols > IP > EGP > Neighbors
Default: Passive
Options: Passive
| Active
Function: Specifies which of the two neighbors initiates EGP connections. The router in
the active mode is the initiator.
Instructions: Set this parameter to Active if you want the local EGP neighbor to be the
initiator of EGP connections. Otherwise, accept the default value, Passive.

Parameter: Poll Mode
Path: Configuration Manager > Protocols > IP > EGP > Neighbors
Default: Both
Options: Active
| Passive | Both
Function: Specifies the type of neighbor reachability algorithm this local EGP neighbor
executes. In the active mode, a router sends Hello and Poll messages to request
reachability status from its neighbor. In the passive mode, a router responds to
Hello and Poll messages with I-H-U and update messages.
Instructions: Accept the default value, Both, or set to either Active or Passive (depending on
the neighbor reachability algorithm you want this router to execute).
