CHAP is the default authentication protocol, but you can change it to PAP using
Site Manager. To select PAP, you must specify PAP for the Local Authentication
Protocol parameter. For instructions to set this parameter, see Configuring PPP
Services.
Modifying PPP Authentication Information
To configure PPP authentication, you can use CHAP or PAP. You configured
CHAP authentication in Chapter 2, “Starting Dial Services Using Site Manager”
or Chapter 3 “Starting Dial Backup Using the BCC.”
For more information about CHAP and PAP, see Chapter 5, “Implementation

The next sections instruction you how to modify the authentication parameters.
