Customizing Backup Circuits
The router activates a backup circuit when a leased circuit fails. To configure
backup service, you designate a leased circuit as a primary circuit. This
designation tells the router to activate a backup circuit if the leased circuit fails. If
you have not configured a leased circuit, you cannot configure a backup circuit.
For PPP configurations only, you should have set up a backup pool according to
the instructions in Chapter 2, “Starting Dial Services Using Site Manager” or
Chapter 3 “Starting Dial Backup Using the BCC,” and, added PPP backup
circuits.
