Parameter: Forward Cache Size

Default: 32

Range: 32 to 512 entries

Function: Speciﬁes the maximum number of entries allowed in the forwarding table

associated with this interface.

Instructions: When conﬁguring a cache size, you must also keep in mind the TTL value

for entries. If you specify a large cache size, you can specify a larger TTL

value. A smaller cache requires a shorter TTL for cache entries.

Parameter: Forward Cache TTL

Default: 300 seconds

Range: 300 to 86400 seconds

Function: Speciﬁes the time to live (in seconds) for an entry in the forwarding table.

Instructions: If your neighbor is running mrouted, we recommend a TTL value of 300

seconds.

Parameter: Advertise Self

Default: Advertise

Options: Advertise | Do Not Advertise

Function: Speciﬁes whether the router advertises its own local networks over this

interface.

Instructions: If you do not want routes advertised over a particular interface, set that

interface to Do Not Advertise.
