Configuring Synchronous Services

Setting the Cable Type
If the synchronous interface is connected to a dial-up device for switched services,
you can specify the cable interface type of the device that connects the dial unit.
You can select one of the following cable types:
• Null
• RS232
• RS422
• V35
• X21
By default, the Cable Type parameter is set to Null. Set the cable type for the
interface.
Using Site Manager
See the Cable Type parameter on page A-69 for information.
Setting the Retry Timer
By default, the router waits 3 seconds for a response from the interface. When the
timer expires, the router:
1.
Sends link control frames.
2.
Resends the frames up to the value of the Retry Count parameter.
3.
Disconnects the link.
Set the Retry Timer parameter to a value from 1 to 9999 seconds.
