Outbound Trafﬁc Filter Criteria and Actions

You create outbound trafﬁc ﬁlters from templates that consist of protocol-speciﬁc

ﬁlter criteria, ranges, and actions. This chapter lists the speciﬁc criteria and

actions that Site Manager supports for outbound trafﬁc ﬁlters.

For instructions on using Site Manager to create outbound ﬁlters, see Chapter 7.

For information about DLSw outbound ﬁlters, refer to Conﬁguring DLSw

Services.

As described in Chapter 1, you create protocol-speciﬁc ﬁlter templates using

either predeﬁned criteria or criteria you deﬁne (user-deﬁned criteria). Sections in

this chapter list both the predeﬁned criteria that the Conﬁguration Manager

provides and the supported reference points for user-deﬁned criteria.

Predeﬁned Criteria

Outbound trafﬁc ﬁlter criteria are based on the Data Link, IP, or DLSw protocol

headers.

• For bridge trafﬁc, all predeﬁned criteria are part of the Data Link header.

• For WAN protocols, predeﬁned outbound ﬁlter criteria are based on either the

Data Link header or an upper-level IP protocol header.

• For NetBIOS, SNA, and other DLSw-encapsulated trafﬁc, predeﬁned criteria

for outbound ﬁlters are based on the DLSw protocol header.
