Applying Outbound Trafﬁc Filters

This chapter shows how to use the Conﬁguration Manager to conﬁgure outbound

trafﬁc ﬁlters. To apply inbound trafﬁc ﬁlters, refer to Chapter 6.

When you conﬁgure an outbound trafﬁc ﬁlter, you specify a set of conditions and

an action that apply to a particular protocol running over a speciﬁc circuit or

interface. You implement protocol prioritization by applying an outbound ﬁlter

that includes a queue action (these are sometimes called priority ﬁlters). For

instructions on how to edit edit the protocol prioritization parameters, refer to

Chapter 2.

Working with Outbound Trafﬁc Filters

To conﬁgure outbound trafﬁc ﬁlters, you ﬁrst display the Conﬁguration Manager

Priority/Outbound Filters window, as described in the next section. From the

Priority/Outbound Filters window you can

• Create, copy, or edit a ﬁlter template, described in “Preparing Filter

Templates.”

• Apply a ﬁlter template to an interface, described in “Creating an Outbound

Filter.”

• Change an existing ﬁlter, described in “Editing an Outbound Filter.”

• Change the ﬁltering order, described in “Changing Filter Precedence.”

Note: To complete the steps in this chapter, you must be familiar with

protocol-speciﬁc ﬁltering criteria and actions. Refer to Chapter 4 for this

information.
