Examples with User-deﬁned Criteria

Setting up user-deﬁned criteria is similar to setting up predeﬁned criteria, except

you specify the criterion’s location within the packet. Refer to Chapter 3 for the

supported protocol header reference points you can use to specify user-deﬁned

trafﬁc ﬁlter criteria.

The following summarizes your steps for creating an inbound trafﬁc ﬁlter with a

user-deﬁned criterion. Chapter 6 provides detailed information.

To specify user-deﬁned criteria:

1. Display the Trafﬁc Filters window for your selected circuit.

2. Click on Template.

The Filter Template Management window appears.

3. Click on Create.

The protocol-speciﬁc Create Filter Template window appears.

4. Enter a descriptive name in the Filter Name box.

5. Select Criteria➔Add➔User-Deﬁned.

The Add User-Deﬁned Field window appears. In this window, you specify the

criterion’s

• Reference Field

• Offset

• Length

• Minimum Range

• Maximum Range

6. Select the protocol-speciﬁc reference ﬁeld.

Refer to Table A-2 for speciﬁc examples.

7. Specify an offset and length from the reference ﬁeld.

Refer to Table A-2.

8. Specify a range.

9. Click on OK.

10. Select an Action.
