VTCPD Application Programming

Specifying the Host Connection
VTCPD can be configured to pool requests for each connection to a host, provide a
common pool for all requests, or allow unlimited requests from any connection (see
Releasing Connection Slot and Handling Exceptions on page 69.)
The application can be set to specify a host connection (see Specifying the
Connection From the Application on page 81), or allow VTCPD to specify the host
connection (see Specifying the Connection From the Application on page 81.)
To send and receive messages on a system configured for multiple VTCPD, the
application must specify the particular instance of VTCPD.The condition data
associated with gotres contains the connection number, the slot number, and
VTCPD port number. The application can use this information to communicate with
the correct VTCPD. For additional information, see Configurations That Require
Multiple VTCPD on page 91.
Specifying the Connection From the Application
Use a Resource block to request a host connection. For VTCPD configured for a
particular host, the Channel field can be used to specify the connection number (see
Application-Host Options on page 36.)
The connection number must be in the range from one to the total number of host
connections. The total number of host connections is defined by the VTCPD
configuration (vtcpd -l #) (see Host Connection Options on page 26.)
