Configuring Dial Services
9-12
114062 Rev. A
Parameter: UpTime Term. Reset
Default: 60 minutes
Range: 0 to 999999 minutes
Function: Determines the amount of time the router waits before making the backup
circuit available again after an uptime termination (Max UpT
ime
Termination parameter). The circuit is not active at this point, but the next
time the router receives data, the circuit is now available and the router
can activate it.
The router invokes this timer only after invoking the UpTime Termination
function.
Instructions: Enter the time period before the router waits before making the circuit
available again. You must enter a value for this parameter if you
configured the Max UpTime Termination parameter.

Parameter: Outbound Authentication
Default: Enable
Options: Enable
|
Disable
Function: Specifies whether the router performs authentication when it places an
outbound call. Disabling outbound authentication improves
interoperability with devices that do not perform two-way authentication
or support CHAP.
Instructions: Accept the default, Enable, if you want to use two-way authentication,
that is, both sides of the connection will authenticate the other’s identity.
Select Disable to use one-way authentication, which means that the
authentication process occurs on only one side of the connection.
