Loop-Free Operation
Loops occur in the network when there are several different routes between hosts.
Bridges may forward traffic indefinitely around the loops, which results in
degraded network performance. To eliminate loops, you can use one of the
methods described in the following sections.
Physically Disabling Loops
You can discover loops in your network using a configuration diagram. Then you
can physically adjust the network configuration to eliminate the loops. For
example, assume that Figure
4-1 is a diagram of a portion of your network.
