Installing FDDI Net Modules in ASN Platforms
2-2 115369-A Rev. A
Except for the name and order number in the upper-right corner of the net module,
the hybrid net modules look like the Single-Mode and Multimode FDDI net
modules.
T
able 2-1 describes the FDDI net module LEDs.
Table 2-1. Functions of the FDDI Net Module LEDs
LED Function
SD Indicates the detection of an incoming signal.
TX Indicates that the FDDI is transmitting across the interface.
S (Secondary) and
P (Primary)
Indicate whether the router is absent or present on the FDDI
ring.
The S and P LEDs light only when a dual bypass switch
module is connected to the RJ-11 jack on the FDDI display
panel and the switch is in Operate mode. (The switch is in
Operate mode during normal FDDI net module operation.)
The S and P LEDs remain lit when the router is part of the
FDDI ring. The S and P LEDs turn off when the bypass switch
circumvents the physical connectors A and B and redirects the
incoming and outgoing signals to its own connectors. This
occurs whenever
– The router is turned off
– The router is reset
– The FDDI circuit is disabled
F (FAIL) Lights during power up, and might flash during diagnostic
testing. The FAIL LED turns off once the diagnostics complete
successfully and the router boots.
The LED remains lit if the net module or any connector on the
net module fails diagnostics. In this case, the DIAG LED on
the ASN front panel will also be on.
